Always remember

This weekend we celebrated my dad's 72nd birthday.  For his birthday, my sister and I ordered him a custom print with his favorite quote.
Design by: INKTREE PRESS

This is what my dad said to us every morning before we left for school.  A daily reminder of what we are, what we believe and what we are expected to do.

Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family.

Just thought I would share......

Running Scared: TFTP

Distance: 5.68 miles
Time: 1:05:09
Avg Pace Per Mile: 11:28
New series!  Tales From The Pavement!  TFTP if you are me.  In case you didn't know, I'm doing something that I never thought I could possibly do.... RUNNING.  Yes, I am running a half-marathon in January and I am scared!

I've been practicing for my training for a few months.  My friend Kim got me into this and she is running a race in November.  She's fast and can talk while she runs.  I'm trying to break an 11:00 minute pace and figure out how to breathe.  I ran from our house to Patrick's soccer game.  What I was hoping would be 6 miles was shy of that goal and I was slow!  If this hip doesn't stop hurting I won't be able to walk, let alone run!

Next to last monthly baby post!!! 11 months

Lauren is 11 months old.  It makes me want to cry and cheer all at the same time.  She is an amazing baby and today was one of those special baby days.    Just look at her!
Today was her very first day going to the gym daycare.  She did great.  I was a wreck....
Today was also her first attempt at jumping out of her crib.  She stuck the landing (with her bottom).
Today she crouched down next to Keith and gave him a huge kiss on the cheek (sound effects and everything).
Today she made me sing rock-a-bye baby 63 times to her Baby GaGa.
Today she laid her head on my shoulder again and again and each time was like a special gift just for me.
Today she proved that she is a delight.  I laugh out loud at her personality all day.  Love her.

One of her favorite hobbies is "whatever Keith is doing."  He's such a sweet brother.  She loves sitting on his Star Wars blanket with him.

She's all about the accessories.  Sunglasses, hats, headbands, purses, necklaces.... She knows how to tell you what she wants and she knows how to wear it!

She started squawking and screeching when she wants something.  We are working on "please" and "thank you."  She knows how to sign "please" it is just easier to squawk.

She loves dancing, singing, and clapping.

She loves seeing Kevin walk through the door from work and isn't satisfied until he has picked her up and loved her several times.

She gives high fives and loves kissing.

She still only has two teeth.   She still isn't sleeping through the night.

She is wearing 12-18 month clothes and frequently picks out her own dresses (and definitely her own accessories for the day).

She lights up our house.  The boys can hardly contain themselves when she sleeps later than they do.  In fact their favorite way to start the morning is with her giving them a nice smack on the face to wake them up!  Oh, she has a fast and heavy slapping hand!  That's my girl!

Girl Power

Look!  A new post label!  Mother of a Girl.  Nurture?  Forget it!  This is ALL nature.

For two weeks Lauren obsessed over paper bags.  She would sneak into the pantry to find a bag and then proceed to carry it around for days.
Finally, I caught a clue and got one of my small purses out for her to play with.  Girlfriend was in girl heaven.
She also demanded that I put her headband on her and that she be allowed to wear it as a necklace (Do you hear that Blair? Headbands are so over!)
She hasn't seen me carry a purse.  I have had a diaper bag for almost a year and I mostly leave it in the car or sling it across the stroller!  This is all natural.

Dear Facebook,

You caught me.  I dumped you for a new obsession.  Let' be honest FB, you weren't really all that useful and you sucked the life out of my day.  You weren't an honest expression of my friendship or my life.  And... you drive me a little crazy.  ok A LOT crazy.  Between the bad grammar, insincerity, self-absorption, and bragging.... ick.  You make me delete people and I don't like to delete people.

My iPhone has been free of you for almost 2 months.  I don't miss my phone pinging whenever someone checked in near me.  I haven't wondered if such and such is doing God only cares (again).  I don't wonder who wants to be my friend now and why.

I don't hate you FB, you just aren't my main squeeze anymore.  You just don't appeal to me in that way.  I'll still hang out  with you.  We can be friends.  I like you, I'm just not in LIKE with you.  No matter how many times I considered freezing my account, I couldn't do it.  You are FB, there is nothing like you.  there are things that are better than you.

Love, Mama Lou

If you are wondering what my new interest is........
