Self-sufficiency here we come...

I know he looks like he is four but he is actually 27.

Tonight Patrick got himself into trouble....again. He has a sassy mouth and a tendency to try to give his parents "rules". But he also knows how to work the charm angle.

It was comical when he tried to play the "I'm not going to be your best friend anymore" game. He insisted that I was or should be angry that he is not my best friend anymore. Luckily I am not one of those moms who wants to be her kid's friend...I just want to be my kid's mom.

He got over it. They always do. Then he asked me if I would rub and pat his back....because he "can't know how to rub his back by himself yet." The image of him trying to pat his own back to put himself to sleep was HILARIOUS. I gave in (of course) and gave him his nightly back pat. I imagine that once he is able to pat his own back we might be able to be friends.

And I have been wondering something.... Lately Patrick has been responding to me with: Well, if you say so. Is this sassy? Did he pick it up from your child?
